EcoRangers Summer Camps – Tribal Trails
For students entering grades 7th, 8th & 9th
Step back in time to the era when Native Americans lived in the area of Shangri La. Campers will learn to live off the land by building a natural shelter, tracking animals, weaving with natural materials, working with clay, and fishing, just as Native Americans did long ago. Campers will learn about the history of Southeast Texas by participating in an archaeological dig and speaking the native language. Campers will explore astronomy and mythology in Native American culture and then have the opportunity to navigate the stars during an evening Star Party. Join our EcoRanger Tribe!
Parents: We will spend 100% of our time in Shangri La’s natural areas. We will take short hikes and enjoy excursions on Adams Bayou. As in all of our camps this year, participants will spend the entire camp day outdoors doing hands-on science activities and working on complementary craft activities. A mid-morning snack will be provided. This camp culminates with an evening Star Party held on Friday August 3rd. Parents and family mentors are welcome!
