Community Trash-Off

iCal Import
Saturday, February 9, 2013 (8:00am - 1:00pm)

Join us for the 18th Annual Community Trash-Off hosted by Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.   Volunteers from the Orange community have picked up more than 200,000 pounds of trash from streets, ditches, and along Adams Bayou since the inception of this program.

On Saturday, February 9th, the Community Trash-Off will begin at Orange Lions Park at 8:00 a.m. If you or your family, friends, or business would like to register a team, please complete the participation form below or call (409) 670-0803 for additional information. Teams consist of 3-5 individuals, and will spend the morning working together to clean up areas throughout the Orange area. If you don’t have a team, you may register at Orange Lions Park and be assigned to one that day. We are also in need of teams of volunteers in small boats to clean Adams Bayou.

This program is limited to adults and children 12 years old and over. All stations must be supervised by an adult. Volunteers may bring their own gloves and are encouraged to wear old clothes. Volunteers working along Adams Bayou in their personal boats may receive, a disposable suit to help them stay clean. Shangri La will provide plenty of gloves, trash grabbers and garbage bags for all volunteers.

Community business owners are donating over 300 prizes to be awarded at the conclusion of the Community Trash-Off, when volunteers return to Orange Lions Park to enjoy pizza and soft drinks.

Join us in our mission to “be kind to our world” by making our community cleaner and more beautiful.
