Alternative Photography Process

During this 6 hour workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to explore the history of photography and alternative photography processes. The morning workshop will begin with an in-depth look at the work of Edward S. Curtis and his use of cyanotypes during his field work. Teachers will then have the opportunity to mix their own cyanotype chemistry and make original prints using this alternative photography method. Following lunch, teachers will look closely at the history of photo manipulation before the digital age and create an original work using gel transfers and other techniques. Registration for this workshop is free, and lunch will be provided. Participating teachers will receive six (6) CPE hours.
Wildlife Art Teacher Workshop

Join the Stark Museum of Art for our fourth annual fine arts teacher in-service! This two-day workshop will be led by Houston artist Celeste Rickert, a 2018 finalist in the Federal Duck Stamp contest. Over the two day-workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to watch artist demonstrations, learn about the wildlife art on view at the Stark Museum of Art, and create their own original color or black and white drawing. This workshop will heavily emphasize studio art practices with a focus on drawing techniques that can be implemented in the classroom. Registration for this workshop is free, and lunch will be provided. Participating teachers will receive fourteen (14) CPE hours.
