Join us for an afternoon reception celebrating the opening of the new, special exhibition Conservation Art: Federal Duck Stamps and Prints and an insights lecture by Celeste Rickert, a Federal Duck Stamp Contest competitor from Katy, TX.
The afternoon reception will begin at 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served in the lobby.
At 2:30 p.m., guests are invited to the Walter G. Riedel III Education Center for a brief Insights Lecture presented by Celeste Rickert. The Insights Lecture will highlight Rickert’s experience competing in the 2018 Federal Duck Stamp Contest and preparations for this year’s entry.
A self-taught artist specializing in portraiture, Rickert expanded her practice to include wildlife art over the past few years. In 2018 Rickert competed in the Federal Duck Stamp Contest for the first time. This initial experience inspired her to continue her pursuit of wildlife art and to enter the contest again in 2019. Rickert’s presentation will give museum guests an intimate look at the experience of the Federal Duck Stamp contest from a contemporary, Texas artist’s perspective.
Admission to the Stark Museum and its exhibitions is free.
