This traveling exhibition is a collaboration between the Brigham Young University Museum of Art and the Stark Museum of Art. The exhibition presents a unique examination of twentieth-century images of the American West as seen through the eyes of the members of the Taos Society of Artists and the California-based artist Maynard Dixon, and through films of the era.
“Branding the American West: Paintings and Films, 1900 – 1950,” is organized by the Brigham Young University Museum of Art and the Stark Museum of Art, and made possible in part by generous grants from the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, The George S. and Delores Doré Eccles Foundation and the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies.
