All Venues will remain closed to the public until further notice as we assess damages and make repairs due to recent Hurricane Harvey. We hope to re-open as soon as possible in the near future. Our thoughts are with everyone in the community who has been affected by this catastrophic event. Check back here or on our Facebook page for further updates. PLEASE CALL BEFORE PLANNING TO VISIT.

Stark Museum of Art Hours of Operation

Open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday, New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day. NOTE: Beginning in 2017, all Stark Cultural Venues properties, including the Museum, will be closed the last week of December and re-open after the New Year’s Day holiday. Children under age 12 are welcome to visit the Museum, but must be accompanied by an adult.

The Stark Museum of Art’s special exhibitions gallery is closed from August 21st – October 21st to prepare for the Paul Kane: Intrepid Artist and Adventurer exhibition.

Paul Kane contradicts the common stereotype of the reclusive artist. From 1845 – 1848, Kane camped and canoed across the North American continent, sketching in watercolor and oil paints along the way. He wanted to record the landscape and the people before they changed. This exhibition presents Kane’s first-hand works exploring regions through the artist’s eye.

The Stark Cultural Venues honors active duty military and their families by welcoming them at Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center and its partners, The W.H. Stark House and the Stark Museum of Art, throughout the year. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Shangri La and its partners participate in the Blue Star Program, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families. Though admission is now free to the Gardens, participation in this program is still near and dear to our staff. Go to for more information.
Stark Museum of Art is a program of the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation, a non-profit organization.
Your involvement and support play an essential part in providing environmental education programs for children and in preserving the Museum for future generations.
